November in Panama is unlike any other month — a time when parades, flags, and patriotic pride fill the streets. It’s a season of music, family, and reflection, as Panamanians honor their independence and history.

Panama Parade, November Holidays, Panama Holidays, Boquete.
Boquete fills with hundreds of bands from around Chiriqui and beyond

But here in Boquete, November is more than national pride — it’s a living example of community and cultural connection. Locals, expats, and travelers share the same tables, raise the same glasses, and celebrate together.

At Mike’s Global Grill, we’re proud to be part of that — honoring Panama’s national holidays and the international traditions that make our town one of the most unique places in the world.

🎆 Panama’s “Mes de la Patria” – The Month of the Nation

Across Panama, November is known as El Mes de la Patria — the Month of the Nation. It celebrates the country’s independence and unity, from the separation from Colombia to the final independence from Spain.

Throughout the month, Boquete comes alive with parades, marching bands, civic pride, and flags on every corner — and Mike’s joins in that spirit proudly.

🇵🇦 November 3 – Separation Day

Commemorating Panama’s separation from Colombia in 1903, this is one of the most important days of the year. Parades fill the streets, music echoes through the hills, and the entire nation celebrates the birth of the Republic. At Mike’s: Closed all day so our team can celebrate with their families.

🇵🇦 November 4 – Flag Day

This day honors the creation of Panama’s flag, designed by María Ossa de Amador — a symbol of peace, purity, and unity. At Mike’s: Closing early at 6 PM to allow our team and guests to enjoy the evening festivities.

🇵🇦 November 5 – Colón Day

Celebrates the peaceful efforts in Colón that secured Panama’s independence and solidified the new Republic. At Mike’s: Closing early at 6 PM in observance of this important holiday.

🇵🇦 November 10 – First Call for Independence

Known as El Primer Grito de Independencia, this holiday marks the 1821 uprising in La Villa de Los Santos, the “first cry” for independence from Spain. At Mike’s: Closed all day in honor of this historic event.

🇵🇦 November 28 – Independence from Spain

Colorful dancers in vibrant costumes pose joyfully on a street, under a blue sky. Festive, cultural atmosphere with bright patterns.

The grand finale of Panama’s patriotic month! On this day in 1821, Panama declared its independence from Spain, completing its journey to nationhood.

Boquete and towns across the country come alive with parades, fireworks, and music. For us, it also flows right into the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend, making it the perfect moment for both Panamanians and expats to celebrate side by side.

At Mike’s: Open all day! Join us for Panamanian specials, Thanksgiving favorites, live music, and community spirit as we celebrate Independence and Gratitude Together.

🍽️ How Mike’s Global Grill Celebrates November

November at Mike’s is about more than holidays — it’s about honoring every culture that calls Boquete home.

Here’s how we’re celebrating all month long:

  • 🇵🇦 Panamanian Flavors: Ropa vieja, arroz con pollo, ceviche, and patacones with our global twist.

  • 🌎 Global Comfort Cuisine: Dishes that blend local ingredients with international favorites — because our kitchen speaks many languages.

  • 🎶 Festive Atmosphere: Panamanian colors, live music, friendly faces, and plenty of laughter.

  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family First: Our early closures give our hardworking team time to enjoy the holidays with loved ones — thank you for helping make that possible.

  • 💙 Community Spirit: Whether you’re Panamanian, North American, European, or just passing through — you’re part of the Mike’s family this month.

🦃 Gratitude, Friendship & Fun: Thanksgiving & "Mike Day"

After Panama’s patriotic parades fade, the spirit of gratitude takes over with two very special Mike’s traditions.

🎂 Mike Day – Saturday, November 23

Because every great community needs its own holiday! Mike Day is our locally created celebration of Chef Mike’s birthday — a day filled with laughter, music, and 55¢ beers for two hours in honor of his 55th year.

It’s lighthearted 15 year local tradition, and perfectly Boquete: a mix of fun, friendship, and that famous Mike’s energy that brings everyone together.

🦃 Thanksgiving at Mike’s – Thursday, November 27

Join us for a full traditional-style Thanksgiving feast — Slow Wood-Smoked and Deep-Fried Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and desserts, all with that Mike’s Global touch.

Thanksgiving at Mike’s brings Panamanians, expats, and travelers together around one big table — to share food, stories, and gratitude.

🌍 A Month That Brings Us All Together

From the parades of Panama’s Mes de la Patria to the laughter of Mike Day and the warmth of Thanksgiving weekend, November is a month that captures the heart of Boquete — diverse, welcoming, and full of pride.

At Mike’s Global Grill, we’re honored to celebrate every part of it — side by side with our friends, neighbors, and visitors from around the world.
